stereotypical roles
Ismene and Antigone are different types of women because Ismene follows the rules of patriarchy and knows that woman are followers and can't have a say in anything that happens. Antigone on the other hand represents feminism and doesn't follow the rules that man have set for them to follow. In the hunger games women are weak yet strong because they don't have any power, but they hold their ground with everything that goes wrong. Yes, the novels portray women and men as they're expected stereotypical roles for the most part because men are strong in the books and the women back away. Heroic women stand up and are strong though, so they stand out, such as Antigone and Katniss.
