Antigone vs. Ismene stereotype vs. extremist

In Antigone Ismene upholds the the stereotypes of women while Antigone subverts the stereotypes. Throughout the book so far Ismene has supported many female stereotypes. For example Ismene was unwilling to stand up to authority to do what she believed to be right along with Antigone. Ismene even said that a women's place was to follow and not question men, that her role was to obey. Meanwhile Antigone was going out being courageous and deciding not to stop doing what she believes in just because she was told not to. She ended showing that she has strong beliefs and is willing to stick to those beliefs. Unlike Ismene and the stereotypes that say women are to obey and not try to defy men. That is why Ismene upholds the stereotypes of women and Antigone subverts the stereotypes of women.
